Megatron's original name D-16 is a reference to the Japanese serial number of the original Generation 1 Megatron toy released by the company Takara in 1984. The letter D is short for Destron, the Japanese name of the Decepticons used in older media, while the number 16 denoted the original Megatron toy as the sixteenth release in the Japanese toy line.

Gaffes
When the Iacon 5000 contestants transform for the race, a purple jet Transformer already has a pair of red light effects floating behind his back, attached to nothing, before he turns into a jet.

There are two scenes worth staying for in the credits. One is midway through the credits, featuring Badassitron and the other is of Megatron at the end of the credits.

Versions alternatives
Several international releases of the film (including the UK) are edited to cut away from Orion's "finger transformation" a few seconds earlier, as well as changing any mention of Bee's "knife hands" to refer to them as "sword hands" instead. It's perhaps likely that Paramount has precut the film for said territories.

Definitely worth rolling into theatres for....

I don't really know the story of the Transformers other than what I've seen in the movies so it took a bit of time for some of the characters to click in such as Bumblebee. Despite super lack of knowledge I was thoroughly entertained and wasn't really sure what would happen next. As things clicked in, I knew what to expect for an ending, but everything in between was a question mark.

The animation is absolutely amazing. It feels very much real, and a bit of an exaggeration, but almost doesn't feel like animation. The cinematography is great. Everything is captured very well especially the battle scenes. In 3D I feel like the film blurs a bit to truly enjoy the view, but the outcome is still enjoyable.

The acting is good, and it kind of kindles some of the vague memories I have about watching "Transformers" as a kid and young teen. No one felt out of place for me, and the emotions behind the voice fell in line with the facial expressions to kindle the emotion needed to tell the story.

Overall, I liked this film so much that I definitely want to go back and watch the live action films again. I always had some enjoyment in them. For this film, while 3D did work and was enjoyable, I think you can find just as much happiness in a regular showing. You also don't need to know the story of the legends. This movie does a good enough job to introduce you to the world, and will actually help understand who is who in other iterations of the franchise.
