This pilot was originally going to film in Charlotte, North Carolina, but ended up being moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Lionsgate had spoken out against North Carolina's recently-passed anti-LGBT "Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act" or "House Bill 2" (which banned transgender people from entering bathrooms not assigned to their birth sex, and also made city and county anti-discrimination ordinances illegal), and this was thought to be the reason behind the move. However, the actual motive was most likely financial in nature, as North Carolina had denied the production access to tax credits in its filming incentive program, while Canada did not.
