Anecdotes
This plot is loosely based on the ancient Greek play "Lysistrata" written by Aristophanes and first performed in 411 BC. In the play, Lysistrata persuades the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands until they negotiate a peaceful end to the Peloponnesian War.

The play has also had its story updated for movies The Second Greatest Sex (1955), Salvar Davasi (1983) and Spike Lee's Chi-Raq (2015).

Straight up comedy with a message.

Not a coincidence that this movie seems oddly familiar to Spike Lee's Chi-Raq as both are modern day takes on the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes. It's like both films are on two different sides of the spectrum with Chi-Raq being on the darker side, while Is that a Gun in your Pocket being more lighter.

Taking place in Texas, after two kids accidentally shoot a man non lethally, the women in a small town decided to stop having sex with their men until they get rid of their guns.

Seems like a difficult task in a place like Texas, and this movie is far more liberal than I would have expected a movie about gun control in Texas would be, but I guess the point is if they can do it in Texas they can do it anywhere.

It does seem like a fantasy, but the message is clear and should be told. The point comes across in an entertaining way.

Very impressive how both Chi-Raq and Is that a Gun in your Pocket can tell such a similar message in two very different ways.
