Craig C. DeThomasis
Craig C. DeThomasis was a partner at the law firm DeThomasis and Buchanan
PA in Gainesville Florida and represented individuals accused
of crimes from1983 through 2019. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at
the University of Florida Levin College of Law from 1990 through 2019. In August of 2019, he was appointed to serve as Circuit Court Judge in and for the Eighth Judicial Circuit based in Gainesville and continues to serve in that capacity.
Craig and his law partner, Michael R. Buchanan, represented Lisa Gier King , a stripper who claimed to be raped while at a fraternity on the University of Florida campus in 1999. It was this controversial case that led to the documentary "Raw Deal: A Question of Consent" which premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2001. This thought provoking and graphic film was produced by Alfred Spellman and directed by Billy Corben.
