Jerry Stevens was born Gerard Pinder in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK, the son of James and Marie Pinder. Before becoming an entertainer he trained as a Pattern Maker at one of Sheffield's largest engineering companies, Davy United. Highly talented, he cut a number of 45rpm vinyl singles during the 1960s and recorded an album for CBS, "So This Is Love" in 1967 which was endorsed by Dusty Springfield. His compere work includes tours with The Beatles, Johnny Mathis and many other big celebrity names of the 1960s and 1970s. He is also an accomplished golfer. His sister, Catherine, still lives in Sheffield.
