In November of 2003 she had an infamous bout with the police when she
drove from her home to buy newspapers an early morning, a few hours
after she had come home from a party. She had a high blood alcohol
level, was heavily intoxicated and ended up crashing into a car before
continue to drive and later ramming another car before stopping. As
Norway's leading female comedian she ended up on the frontpage of
Norway's two largest newspapers and the event was heavily publicized.
She admitted to her guilt and ended up having to pay her insurance
company 228,000 Norwegian Kroners in damages (about 34,000 US dollars)
for the cars, as is tradition in Norway when driving while under the
influence. On June 7th 2004 she was sentenced to 30 days in jail and
given a fine of 90,000 Norwegian Kroners (about 13,000 US dollars).
