Served as host and director of a live reading of excerpts from the screenplays selected for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. The actors participating in the reading were Keiko Agena, Monica Barbaro, Lodric D. Collins, and Dorian Missick.
Barbara won one of five fellowships from the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting's 2013 competition with her script, Sugar In My Veins. During the awards ceremony, a portion of the screenplay was performed live before a full house at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills by Elle Fanning and Anton Yelchin, directed by Rodrigo Garcia.
