Sadistic Eroticism

Text: "sadistic eroticism" is a movie that was made for only 3 types of people: those who watch literally all indie horror being released, die-hard-sophie-deeists, and masochists.

it wasn't easy to get a copy to a reasonable price, but finally the dvd found the way into my mailbox. the reason why i ordered it in the first place was the amazing cover artwork, and an unusually high imdb score. considering i've been wanting to see it for quite a while, it sadly was quite the letdown.

first, the blurb can't be called anything else but a scam. "sex, satanism, slavery and slaughter", it promises. let's see what the viewer actually gets: the pictured scenes of intercourse are used so inflationally and are of such poor quality that one finds himself thinking "please finish already". there is some occult stuff happening but the only resemblance to 'actual' satanism is a pentagram and some pathetic 666 writing. well you could say some characters get enslaved so this point is covered. and for the slaugher... it took almost 2 hours for the first kill. yes, 2 hours. because the whole film doesn't run118 minutes as announced on the cover - another scam - but unbelieveable 2 and a half hours... or maybe i was just lucky and got a super extended limited version. and this is probably the biggest flaw: most of the time one just begs for stuff to happen and it. just. doesn't. i am still struggling to understand how they stretched a non-plot so far. if it wasn't shot on homevideo with so bad a sound it was hard to understand what the characters were saying, the runtime would be debatable. it would seem that all of the budget went into miss dee's payment who probably has never starred in a movie with a smaller budget.

at 70-80 minutes this would've worked as a moderately entertaining no-brainer. there's a groovy soundtrack, cheesy acting, some nudity and juicy gore effect which all earn 3 extra stars for the rating. give it a chance if you're a troma connaisseur.
