The strengths of the cartoon series "Elliot Mouse" are clearly in the excellent, often jazzy soundtrack, the historical references and the dialogues, which are particularly convincing in the German version. In the course of time the rhymes in the dialogues and monologues increase significantly; they are even used as a real stylistic device. Sometimes the content falls out of time, but the dialogues are entertaining - at least much funnier than in English. It is also worth mentioning that names like "Elliot Mouse", "Al Catzone", "Dog Moran", "Enrico Catuso" or "Black Paw" are all based on real events (Eliot Ness, Al Capone, Bugs Moran, Enrico Caruso, Black Hand Gang). A historical post-production is worthwhile, as there are many parallels to the cartoon series, such as the eventual arrest of Al Capone.
But what I still like best is the soundtrack, which is actually present in almost every scene. In addition to the terrific German voice actors, some of whom have been cast with top-class supporting roles themselves (a boxing trainer, for example, has the voice of Robert De Niro = Christian Brückner), it is precisely the soundtrack that can still inspire me as an adult and is not insignificant shaped my childhood and further development.
