fine and fun

English subtitles.

Another one of those fantasy wuxia streaming movies, and this one is pretty cool. It is supposed to be about Zhang Daoling, but from what i gather it's not based on any existing stories.

There is a sense of style and ambition in the cinematography, but the action shots aren't wide enough and they slow down the footage instead of "overcranking" the cameras. There's ADR for the kid and it sounds as bad as always. Why no one else caught up to usa in that respect? ADR - no; child voice acting - yes.

Even the "comedy" bits aren't that bad. They still are not funny, but at least they aren't annoying.

It's a fine and fun watch, but it has the potential to be something more.
