Not having heard of writer Chason Laing's 2022 comedy "Sheer Pandemic", I didn't really know what I was in for here, aside from it being a movie that was spawned because of the Covid-19 pandemic. And on that note, then I suppose that "Sheer Pandemic" might not actually just fall into everyone's liking.
However, as it was a comedy that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch it, and see what directors Grant Davis and Chason Laing had to offer.
And I am forced to say that I found "Sheer Pandemic" not to be a comedy that tickled me in the right places. Sure, the movie had some funny moments scattered throughout its course, but it wasn't a comedy that had me laughing, nor was it a movie with a storyline that appealed much to me. So it was somewhat of a drag to sit through "Sheer Pandemic", especially since it failed to make me laugh.
There were some good jabs at the outrageous things that has taken place in the Covid-19 pandemic, and those I did enjoy watching. But as a whole, then "Sheer Pandemic" just didn't cut it for me.
I will say, though, that the movie had a good cast ensemble. I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses that were in the movie, but they put on good performances and carried the movie well enough. Just a shame that the storyline was lacking proper contents.
Now, I am sure that there is audience out there for a movie such as "Sheer Pandemic", but also at the same time there is a chance that the movie will come off as tacky, if not downright distasteful, to other people in the audience.
My rating of "Sheer Pandemic" lands on a three out ten stars.
