As little girls, we were crazy about her songs. Even now, hearing "Privet, romashki" makes you sway to the rhythm as if by magic.
This film was a revelation for me. I discovered new facets of Zemfira's personality, or rather, her inner world. Before, I could only guess at these nuances by pulling emotions from her songs. But the black-and-white fragments of interviews, filmed by Renata, allowed her to reveal herself. Sincerity - 100%, pretense - 0%. It's clear that Zemfira is a person with a sensitive soul, incredibly high standards for herself, and, due to her perfectionism, for others as well. It's astonishing how she combines angelic lightness and vulnerability with a steely determination and confidence in her path.
Her monologues in the film are unique. I was especially struck by her reflections on personal space, the meaning of life, and her perception of people with "perfect" faces. Talking to people like Zemfira must be an incredible experience.
The concert, of course, is stunning in its musical power and emotional intensity.
Speaking about the film as a whole, I would have preferred it to be a more in-depth interview, complemented by concert fragments, rather than the other way around. The interview + concert format is an interesting experiment, but it leaves the film feeling slightly lacking in cohesion. Nevertheless, I would revisit it to relive the strongest monologues and the most emotionally charged moments of her songs.
I'd rate the film format an 8 out of 10. But thanks to Renata, who created this unusual film, I was able to briefly touch the beautiful soul of Zemfira, her emotions, her concert energy, and her otherworldly sincerity. And that is worth so much more.
