This film has a striking title to it with two words which can enrage any Kannadiga, especially when it's used by a non-Kannadiga! The film mirrors the exact situation prevailing in Karnataka, specifically Bengaluru in the recent years.
The story begins with the missing of some arrogant non-Kannadigas who take cab rides. The police department finds it difficult to solve these piling missing cases. In comes senior crime inspector Shruthi Chakravarthy, who takes up the investigation into these cases to catch the culprit behind it. How exactly she does this forms the core of this film.
The film succeeds in presenting the sad reality of how most of the Kannadigas have sold themselves and their language due to the lust for money and power. It portrays the lack of respect for Kannada, the harrassment & threat, the imposition of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu languages by some of the non-Kannadigas who have taken the welcome nature of Kannadigas for granted. The frustration of the Kannada cab drivers in reality is also shown in a laudable manner. It also shows that Kannada should not be enforced with violence on someone against their wish, but by helping them learn in an easy way.
The film at first gives a brief on how Karnataka was formed due to the united effort of all Kannadigas way back in 1956 and how the same unity is the need of the hour to get back the lost zeal for Kannada among people. The screenplay is quite gripping and the film has a good thrill to it. The plot starts to get a little out of sync in the second half, however it takes off again with a good twist in the climax.
Haripriya gives an impactful performance once again as an able cop. Pavan's performance is outstanding and he plays a brilliant role. Dharmanna Kadur also has given one of his best performances. The cinematography is sophisticated and sets up the mood. The BGM is also brilliant and perfectly gives the chills.
Overall, this movie is a commendable effort in defining who a true Kannadiga is and all true-blue Kannadigas & non-Kannadigas can definitely watch this one.
