Gincho nagaremono mesuneko bakuchi

So, Wandering Ginza Butterfly 2 has an even better title than the first movie (released the same year), as the full title for this sequel is Wandering Ginza Butterfly: She-Cat Gambler. It also has Sonny Chiba in it this time around, but the improved title and cast didn't make it a better movie at all.

The plot is still muddled and happy to jump over the place wildly. Even the individual scenes here didn't tend to make a ton of sense. Whereas that first movie felt a bit sloppy, this one just feels like no one really tried when it came to writing or structure.

Speaking of structure, this follows the same beats as the first to a ridiculous extent, and even has its sole action sequence (like neither could feature anymore?) right at the end. And again, that brief burst of action is the best part, but it's not even as cool as the showdown in the first movie.

This felt pretty lazily made, I'll have to be honest. There's some competency to it all that makes it feel watchable, but it was kind of a drag for large parts of the runtime, sadly.
