Mudder Liesl is a local beer and wine restaurant (Gaststubb), owned and operated by an extended family. Daily drama of working class people with their joys and sorrows is dished out in 13 episodes (the usual run for a season of 25 minute bite-size stores in the prime of German television). Like the pioneering series "Die Firma Hesselbach" (ca. 1960), Mudder Liesl offers the authentic Hessian dialect as spoken in the Frankfurt area. This definitely adds to the "Gemutlichkeit", endearing the characters to their audience. The only other comparison would be the many hilarious comedy-drama stories presented by the Ohnsorg Theater in Hamburg, where all stories focus on working people in that region, allowing them to talk with that specific dialect. - This series is well worth it, especially for anyone who appreciates "Hessisch" and some of the well-known established actors (such as the female lead Liesl Christ) featured. A very pleasant stroll down Memory Lane of the Wirtschaftswunder Years in Germany.
