In this rather hackneyed romantic story, Jeanette Biedermann, with a vivacious performance as Julia Behrendt, manages to breathe some life into the film much in the same way as Sandra Bullock saves 28 Days from its mediocrity. The pace of the film is appropriate for the tale, but there is a lack of the unexpected, which adds a certain dullness to the story.
This is not a performance for Jeanette Biedermann's music fans, even less so than Flaming Star was for Elvis Presley's. Neither is it a performance to endear her to her former soap fans, as this production allows her to show that she is capable of much better acting. However, the dance elements of the story tie in nicely with the non-singing part of her singing career.
As in 28 Days, the supporting cast is not brilliant, with the exception of Uwe Zerbe, who plays Martin's father, Gregor. In particular, Jan Sosniok, who plays Martin, did not generate the emotions needed for a romance.
It is worth seeing for the lead actress's display of energy and joie de vivre, but do not expect much more from it.
