Writer George Kaplan fashioned this star-crossed tale of cybersex for director Michael Raven, and what might have seemed novel at the turn of this century is now quite out of date. But with Stephanie Swift as the lead lady glued to her laptop and Jill Kelly as supporting femme you can't go wrong.
I was surprised to discover this as a forerunner of the "catfishing" phenomenon, as without much suspense (all is revealed including Kaplan's central plot twist in the opening reel) we find wife Stephanie posing on-line as Angel Eyes while posting a photo of stunning Jill Kelly as her fake self.
She is communicating on-line with a guy calling himself Hardstud, who is in fact her husband John Decker, also using a fake photo, of T.T. Boy. The spouses are drifting further and further apart in real life, each obsessed with their on-line beau.
Raven and Kaplan flesh out this clever premise by having erotic-fantasies in which each protagonist imagines making love to the net person, so Decker has a strong scene with Kelly, and Steph is humped by T.T. Boy. Eric Price as Decker's employer makes for a good foil, while Julie Meadows is a scene stealer as Steph's best friend who has sex with Decker during an erotic dream by the oversexed guy.
Finale of the two phonies getting it on when they discover each one's fraud is as predicted, but satisfying nonetheless, even making for a happy ending.
