This lesser-known feature in the Vivid Video catalogue is a pleasant surprise - a successful experiment predating today's Virtual Reality porn. Contract stars Asia Carrera and Janine give terrific performances.

Dealing with both fantasy and science fiction, it's not a straightforward story, but instead an unusual case of people meeting via the internet: talented hacker Asia on her trusty laptop and program designer Janine at her personal computer. Without the all-important explicit sex content one could imagine this as an interesting template for a tv series, a la "Halt and Catch Fire", but filmmaker "Phil M. Noir" (aka Austin Ellison) takes a quite artsy approach using both color and black & white visuals to take the various protagonists into a fantasy world. I was surprised that even the oversize goggles look similar to those currently in use for VR 25 years later, except they are tinted like sunglasses.

Lesbian sex is emphasized, due to the casting of Janine, who was a superstar committed to performing only girl/girl sex on screen during this period. Hiding behind their web handles (Asia calls herself Demonhacker, while Janine is Samiam), the stars compete for control of the program Janine is working on, and propel themselves (and several other players on line) into both outdoor and indoor environments, where sex is the pastime. One highlight is a lesbian threesome of outdoor sex for Janine with beautiful Euro blonde Laura Palmer and another superstar for the label, Raylene, who is credited with the odd spelling "Reylenne".
