This second OAV series starts off with a re-cap of the end of the first OAV series, but is superior both in story and art to the first series. The humor from the TV series is back and the animation is first-rate. This 6-part series is based primarily on the manga, volumes 14-18, with some exclusions and minor changes. Miaka and Yui are now in high school and somehow Tamahome has been reincarnated in Miaka's world as a human boy named Taka Sukunami. He attends the same college as Miaka's older brother Keisuke and his best friend, Tetsuya. Taka is Miaka's boyfriend, but he has no memories of his previous life as the Suzaku seishi Tamahome. In fact, his memories have been stored away in memory globes, with each of his fellow Suzaku seishi possessing one of them. Miaka and Taka journey back to the Universe of the Four Gods to retrieve the globes and restore his memory, but there is a great evil trying to block their way. The Majin, Tenkou, rears his ugly head again - this time assisted by new villains, including a brother-and-sister duo who became demons because of their incest, a water demon who was once Chichiri's best friend, and a demon who takes on the appearance of Tamahome! By the end of Episode 1, Tenkou has destroyed Mt. Taikyoku and Taiitsu-kun has disappeared. Can Miaka and her loyal seishi stop Tenkou's destruction? Will Taka ever regain his memories as Tamahome? Is Taiitsu-kun gone forever? The end of this OAV series may finally provide closure to the Fushigi Yuugi saga.
