Histoire
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesThis is the only movie (and only time in all DBZ, for that matter) in which Yamcha wears a Gi with the turtle symbol on the front and the King Kai symbol on the back. His Gi of choice after being resurrected in the series is the opposite (Kai in front, turtle at the back - and he is the only character to wear a Gi of this style).
- GaffesGohan doesn't detransform when Turles destroys the Power Ball. This contradicts every other Great Ape transformation in the entire series, in which if the moonlight source is eliminated, detransformation happens instantly.
- Générique farfeluWhile other DBZ movies just used whatever opening went with the show at the time the movie was release, Tree of Might features a specially-made opening, featuring the Z-Fighters gathering the Dragon Balls to restore the destroyed forest.
- Autres versionsTwo version were released in the USA. One version was a three-part mini-series for the series syndication run. It was edited for violence and Gohan's nudity when he changes back from transforming into the massive ape. An uncut version was released on video and DVD which was more faithful to the original Japanese version.

While whatever little happens in this movie is top notch and nothing less than spectacular, it only lasts for 1 hour and ends up less than satisfying especially after the screwed up ending. The fight scenes are the best of any DBZ episode and the special effects are superb. However, there's really not much story and too much time is wasted on the usual 'staring' present in DBZ. To illustrate how good the few scenes and action are, take note that the majority of the scenes in the DBZ series title song are from this movie. The animation standard is much better than the average DBZ episode. A major shortcoming is that Turles and his team spend too little time fighting. They should have had much longer fight scenes when it came to his team and they were too easily defeated. However, I prefer this to the Brolly movie any day. There is very little in this movie but that little is top notch stuff. Definitely a must see. Is it a must purchase? I really can't say the same.
