- AnecdotesThis film has two titles. It is also known as "Dangerous Kiss". Furthermore, when viewing the movie on Amazon Prime, they still show the "Dangerous Kiss" title in the opening credits.
- GaffesWhen Mary reads the case file after breaking into the police office, the word "HOMICIDE" is misspelled "HOMOCIDE".
- Autres versionsA version with the title "Dangerous Kiss" was released on cable, and is the one most widely available on streaming services. This one is heavily edited to remove most of the violence, sex, and stronger profanity. Examples include (spoilers):
- All instances of "fuck" are either cut around or dubbed over.
- The sex scene between Earl and Sherry in the factory is longer and includes nudity.
- Instead of fading to black, the sex scene between Tony and Mary has her crying out in pain as he thrusts into her, strongly implying it is her first time.
- After the flashback of Tony handcuffing Maggie and driving away, there is a brief cutaway to Tony and Mary staring at each other. In the uncut version, Tony taunts Mary by asking "do you want to know what happened next?" After a long pause, she nods.
- Maggie's murder is severely edited. In the uncut version, after throwing her to the ground, Tony punches her in the face when she tries to stand up (similar to the opening scene). The edited version cuts away as he approaches with the bottle of bleach, while the uncut version shows him forcing her to drink it before stabbing her repeatedly (both actions are mostly off-screen).
- Tony snapping Guinn's neck is shown in full rather than cutting away at the last second.
- When Tony is dangling over the glass crusher, in the edited version he asks Mary for help, saying "can you reach?" In the uncut version he taunts her one last time by saying "I was inside of you." In both she still reaches out before choosing to let him fall to his death.

RELEASED TO VIDEO IN 1995/1996 and written & directed by Pat Verducci, "True Crime" (aka "Dangerous Kiss") is a mystery/crime/teen/romance starring Alicia Silverstone as a Catholic school senior in California who befriends a police cadet (Kevin Dillon) to solve a case of serial killings of young women. Their investigations lead them to a traveling carnival. Bill Nunn plays the girl's detective friend and the cadet's boss.
This came out right after Alicia's breakthrough flicks "The Crush" (1993) and "Clueless" (1995) and, while entertaining for what it is, it pales by comparison. The main problem isn't the cast, locations or excellent percussion-oriented score, but rather the script; and, more specifically, who the killer turns out being. With just a couple imaginative tweaks this could've been a very satisfying teen mystery à la Nancy Drew, but with considerable edge. Still, Silverstone makes it agreeable, along with the other highlights noted. If you like those other two flicks, this is a must.
THE MOVIE RUNS 1 hour, 34 minutes and was shot in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, CA.
