Max Wright later said that while he disliked working on the show, he got satisfaction from fan letters sharing how much joy and happiness the show brought them.

In the opening credits of seasons 1 and 2, the studio lights are visible in the shot of Brian, on the left.

ALF can be heard laughing at the end of the closing credits in each episode.

Many of the syndicated episodes from the American DVD sets are further edited to remove music and songs which were claimed too expensive to license for home video. In a few cases, this results in episodes which run for less than 20 minutes! The European sets released by Warner does not suffer from these problems, except for: season one's "For your eyes only" lacks one scene due to music licensing issues. For season two's "Somewhere over the Rerun" the shorter syndicated version was used.
