The picture deals with a syndicate clerk, Quique Camoiras, who is interned at a mental Institution. There he meets rare and peculiar roles at the psychiatric sanatory as a good nun, Esperanza Roy, and a lot of insane people, as Walter Vidarte, Manuel Alexandre, Luis Ciges. Along with an understanding doctor called Campos : Santiago Ramos and the doctor chief : Pablo Sanz.
This is a silly comedy plenty of craziness, slapstick, screwball and several absurd, ridiculous happenings in Marx Brothers style. It delivers a sour critique to Francisco Franco period, as it is set during Post-Francoist epoch, an early democratic time called Spanish Transition, as there were released various fims with strong political charge as Las Truchas, Con Uñas y Dientes, Arriba Azaña and Vota a Gundisalvo. A weird, twisted and plenty of ridiculous situations screenplay by Fermin Cabal, a playwright who wrote scripts for Eloy de la Iglesias as El Pico II and he directed La Reina del Mate. It displays a good main and support cast giving likable interpretations. As the usual comedy and Revista actor, Quique Camoiras, provides a sympathetic performance as the Francoist nutty man, standing-out his conversation with his Falangist doppelganger, Quique Camoiras himself . And costarring Esperanza Roy is pretty good as a friendly nun who helps him, she won CEC prize, as she had the best secondary Award . Support cast is frankly well as Florinda Chico playing his wife, Walter Vidarte as the stubborn Falangist called Ledesma , Santiago Ramos as a fine Doctor, the veteran Lola Gaos as Superior nun, Ricardo Palacios as a hunk, fatty nurse assistant, Manuel Alexandre, Luis Ciges, Luis Peña, among others.
It contains atmospheric musical score by Fernando Luna and songs performed Romantica Banda Local. Atmospheric cinematography by Angel Luis Fernandez, a fine cameraman who has photographed a number of films as Manos de seda, Belmonte, Youth, The Dark hour, Invierno de las Anjanas , Fago, La mula, and several others. The motion picture was regularly written and directed by Javier Maqua who has only made three films : Chevrolet, Carne de gallina and this, Tu estas loco Briones.Rating 5/10.
