- AnecdotesActress Jodie Foster was offered the Princess Leia role in La guerre des étoiles (1977) around the time that this movie was in development when George Lucas had wanted to make the character young and Foster had actually got the part when it was realized that Foster was still under contract to Disney. There may have been a way for Foster to get out of the contract but her mother decided to honor the contract and as such Foster contractually completed Un vendredi dingue, dingue, dingue! (1976) for Disney in 1976.

Mrs. Schmauss: Where do I start, honey?
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): In the kitchen. We had a little problem this morning.
Mrs. Schmauss: What happened?
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): Well, the washing machine went bananas and uh...
Mrs. Schmauss: [suddenly we enter the next scene, in the laundry room just after the kitchen] Well, lets take a look and see what's going on.
[she opens the washing machine lid, and very instantly sees that it's overloaded]
Mrs. Schmauss: Oh no! No! Well no wonder.
[starts taking them out piece by piece]
Mrs. Schmauss: You're going to cram your shirts, and your rugs, and your hose, and your sneakers, and some little tin things. What are these little tin things? Oh jacks! That's cute. That's cute! And all of your jacks in here together, not to mention you used too much soap. That is your problem.
[shuts the lid]
Annabel (as Mrs. Andrews): Well, that's what comes of letting Annabel help with the laundry. That sweet thing trying to be helpful.
Mrs. Schmauss: A genuine first?
[rolls her eyes]
Mrs. Schmauss: Ugh!

Words and Music Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn
Performed by Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster (uncredited)
The material, of course, makes the laughs easy to come by. Still, the two leads shine in their respective roles. Some of the material can get touchy as when daughter uses Mom's mature figure to tempt neighbor boy. Nonetheless, it's humorously finessed. Hard to believe Foster really is only 13 given her abilities. Good to see such movie vets as Marie Windsor, Patsy Kelly, and Iris Adrian picking up paydays. I had to check the cast list twice to make sure it really was noir vamp Windsor playing a teacher, of all things. Anyway, except for the overdone madcap of the finale, the movie's a delight, even for non-Disney viewers like myself.
