Although the film is a comedy, the original short story, by Dino Buzzati, appears as one of the stories in "The 4th Fontana Book of Horror Stories" from 1969, edited by Christine Bernard.

Underrated social plot movie

According to the late 1960s' social outline by eurocomedy, Tognazzi, -great usage observer, nothing less than one of the finest italian surrealist showmen, after Petrolini and Fellini-, performs, directs and produces this movie. Stratum habits, politics, psychological gradients, (well targeted), come in foreground from a humouresque-metaphysical scenario. A must-see, in my opinion.
