Leandro (Paco Martínez Soria) is a 65-year-old widower inclined to think he's sick. He's sent to a home where he meets fellow hypochondriac Elena (Isabel Garcés) . He is a widower and she is single and both meet at a hospital , they start secretly seeing each other. After a plot devised by Elena's niece, the two begin an undercover relationship that is not well received by Elena's sister , Amalia (Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro) and by Leandro's children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Adaptation of a play by Alfonso Paso who also acts as a doctor by linking these two great performers like Isabel Garcés and Paco Martínez Soria in a comic romance of mature love . Amusing Spanish comedy with the great Paco Martínez Soria who steals the show with his Aragonese accent , and playing splendidly his usual role as a fast-talking , grumpy as well as sympathetic old man who fall in love for the elderly Isabel Garcés . They're Leandro and Elena , two hypochondriacs who are beloved friends and take a large number of drugs and pillls from apotheke . This romance reveals the selfishness of many family members who are more interested in their own benefit than in the happiness of others . Even so much repression of the "green" relationship , in fact everything is painted green in the apartment where the main couple tries to consummate their love could suggest an allegory about censorship obsessed with prohibiting any shy glimpse of sex activity . Stars the great Paco Martínez Soria , although he was born in Tarazona, he was only five when his family moved to Barcelona, where he went to school. He worked as a clerk and then as a salesperson. At the same time he participated in performances of local theatre groups in Gràcia. During the Spanish Civil War he left his work and focused on theatre as an amateur actor. In 1938 he debuted in Teatro Fontalba with the theatre company of Rafael López Somoza with the work Antonio pasó el infierno (Antonio goes to hell). Two years later he founded his own theatre company with which he worked during the 1940s from Teatro Urquinaona and in the 1950s from Talía theatre. In 1934 he collaborated as an extra in the black and white comedy Sereno with director Ignacio F. Iquino. He continued working with Iquino in eleven more films. He got his first leading role in 1938 in the comedy Paquete, el fotógrafo público número uno (Paquete, the number one public photographer). He continued playing supporting roles in many films until 1944 when he returned to theatre as an actor and entrepreneur. His name achieved some fame between 1942 and 1944, when he was named director and first actor in the theatre company of Teatro de la Zarzuela. He returned to cinema in the rolesstudd in 1950s. In 1965 he was very successful with the film La ciudad no es para mí (La ciudad no es para mi or The city is not for me) directed by Pedro Lazaga. From that moment on, his screen character as an affectionate country bumpkin, headstrong old man did not cease to appear in films until his death with his friend Pedro Lazaga. Thies two greatest hilarious players , Paco Martínez Soria Isabel Garcés are finely accompanied by a nice support cast with plentty of familiar faces , such as : José Sacristán, Manuel Zarzo, Elvira Quintillá , Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro, Emilio Laguna, Valeriano Andrés, Maribel Hidalgo , Marcelo Arroita-Jáuregui , Beni Deus, Erasmo Pascual, Carmen Cervera, Saturno Cerra, Luis Barbero, Francisco Camoiras and playwright Alfonso Paso himself.
The motion picture was regular but professionally directed by Pedro Lazaga. Lazaga directed various film with the popular comic player Paco Martinez Soria . He was a prolific director and writer , specially known for Los Chicos del Preu (1967), María Morena (1951), Cuerda De Presos (1956) and Posición Avanzada (1966). Pedro was a craftsman , a notorious director and writer who directed all kind of genres such as Peplum : Siete Espartanos , Wartime : Cuerda De Presos , Posicion Avanzada , Torrepartida , La Patrulla ; Drama : Rostro De Asesino , Otro Arbol De Guernica , but especially known for comedies in low budget . Director Pedro Lazaga made , during the fifties and early sixties , eight films , mostly comedies : ¨Muchachas De Azul¨, Ana Dice Si¨. ¨Luna De Verano¨, ¨Económicamente Debiles¨ , ¨Trio Damas¨ for screenwriter and producer Jose Luis Dibildos and his ¨Agata Films Productions¨. The best of all them resulted to be ¨Los Tramposos¨.. His most known films were with the popular comic player Paco Martinez Soria , such as : Abuelo Made in Spain , Padre De La Criatura , Alegre Divorciado , Estoy Hecho Un Chaval , Vaya Par Gemelos , El alegre divorciado, among others . Rating : 5/10 . It's a pretty weak comedy, only for Paco Martinez Soria fans.
