In the scene of the meeting in the Donuzlav lake of two resisting ships "Cherkasy" and "Genichesk", the latter was led by the real commander of "Genichesk" - Oleksandr Boychuk, who was resisting against russians in 2014. You can see him in a window of "Genichesk". But his character was played by an actor in a movie.

Adds to the understanding to the war, but still somehow incomplete

I have been to the frontline on the Crimea border just a few meters from the little green man and the warzone in Donbass so I watched this movie with great curiosity.

Some of the stories in the movie, for example why people changed sides and joined the Russians, I heard from Ukrainian officers just after the events - they are accurate. The drinking "lifestyle" of rural Ukraine is also accurately and honestly depicted. The average Ukrainian village is indeed not a happy place.

This movie is of course shows the Ukrainain side of the story, but does not make monsters out of the Russians. Good point. This is not some cheap black and white propaganda flick. Still, the movie is confusing, with somewhat obscure storylines. Yes, there is a message in it, a bit too obvious to be really effective. With more skill, it could have been a good movie, but it is not. Still, for those interested in the war in Ukraine, I recommend it.
