From 2016 to 2021, Bondarevskaya was a soloist of the opera troupe of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. On November 10, 2021, she performed in her last play in the theatre and then resigned. She did not expand on the reasons for her resignation, and her colleagues respected her decision and never asked about it. On April 22, 2023, she died in Moscow, her 35th birthday, after secretly battling cancer. Her death was confirmed by the Bolshoi Theatre's press office several days later.
