- AnecdotesJohn Prosky holds a BFA in Theater from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers and an MFA in Acting and Directing from California State University at Long Beach. He has been a working actor since 1985 and has been based in Los Angeles. His theater credits include plays at such places as Arena Stage in Washington DC, The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis MN, Playwrights Horizon in New York City, The Delaware Theater Company in Wilmington DE, The Lucille Lortel Theater Off Broadway, and The Pasadena Playhouse, The Geffen Theater and The Mark Taper Forum here in Los Angeles to name but a few. He has also worked with such LA based acting companies as The Echo Theater, Incline the Theater Group, The Critical Mass Theater and he has been a member of the ensemble at Antaeus since 2000. He has re-occurred on such television shows as Medium, True Blood, Major Crimes, The Closer, Veronica Mars, Touch, and has guest starred on such shows as House, Fringe and Frazier. His film credits include The Devil Inside, Bowfinger, A.I.(artificial intelligence), Nutty Professor, The Hulk, Gods & Generals, and Straight Outta Compton. He has taught acting and Shakespeare for underserved youth, incarcerated youth, and students at the university level for the last 10 years. He was the head of the educational outreach program at Antaeus where he co-founded the Odyssey Artists Workshop. He is the proud son of the late Robert Prosky, proud father of Joseph Kai Prosky, and happy husband of actress Kimiko Gelman.
