He belonged to a small village Thakurdwara near Palampur in Himachal
Pradesh (HP). He lost his father at an early age. Belonging to a very
poor family he went to Bombay to seek some work. He made a few Punjabi
and Hindi films and achieved the biggest success in his Silver Jublie
movie "DADA". He could not enjoy the success of Dada, as he died of a
heart attack in 1979.
