Finally got around to watching this movie. Thought it was one that I'd seen but I remember none of this.
The story was mostly predictable yet had a few surprises. It was nice to see the women rise to the situation instead of being typical damsels in distress. Strong intelligent women make the story more interesting and, for me, enjoyable. Typical newly single mom and rebellious young daughter head out for a day trip white water rafting down a river that they've been down countless times. Of course along the way they encounter 3 escaped felons looking for the stolen loot that a 4th crook helped them steal.
Add to this a wildfire in the area that never really threatens but does tie up local law enforcement so their search for the criminals takes a lower priority. And of course the daughter is diabetic which adds extra stress to the situation. (This part is not truly real life but exaggerated) The acting was mostly good and believable.
Perry King is good as the Sheriff though should have had a larger part. As to the Sheriff's daughter, her part was completely unnecessary. Though it did give King more screen time. More of him would have raised my rating by at least 2 points. I have to say, I do like the white hair, especially since I'm also older now.
All in all, this is a entertaining way to pass the time. Highly recommended.
