There should be more claymation style games. This is a great game but does have some slight issues. First even though the character models are of high quality and look real and lifelike as they were scanned into the game from real clay models, there is constant clipping with the characters hands and objects ie. Clothing etc. Which takes away from the immersion of the game.
Also whenever you start a new day you constantly have to run around the ship over and over to the same exact places just to see if there is someone with new dialogue with which to converse with. It would have been majorly helpful (hopefully this can be fixed in a patch) if there was some kind of icon on the All Water (like an elevator in the game) tube system elevator panel that would let you know if there was a character on that floor with new dialogue options. It's very frustrating and tiring running back and forth over and over each day just to see if there is someone with something new to say.
Also the beginning of the game is pretty slow, which is fine as it sets the atmosphere and tone, but the issue I have is with the pacing. I would say the first 3-4 chapters take roughly 7-10 hours, but then the game inexplicably speeds up pretty fast and you're on an all-rails linear journey through the 2nd half of the game. Not that it's quick and over in an instant but you don't have any control where the story goes. Whereas in the first half you could wander around and explore and talk to people, in the 2nd half it moves from chapter to chapter really quick which was kind of a bummer. It would have been nice if they kept the same pace throughout.
Still rating this game 10/10 as it's definitely one of a kind and it's not only rare to see a game like this made but at times it's almost surreal. It's almost like watching and playing a Wallace and Gromit claymation episode which never gets old. There's no combat to speak of in the game but as long as you enjoy claymation movies then you'll probably like this game.
Also it would have been great to be able to zoom in while moving. As of right now you can zoom the camera in closer to get more detail but only when standing still. Also there's an entire section that is cordoned off in the game: the VIP section. So not sure if that's for possible upcoming DLC?
It would be great if there could be multiple save files. As of right now once you beat the game you need to delete the save file to start a new campaign which kind of sucks. Also on Xbox Series X the game has crashed roughly 3-4 times total during the whole play through but that can probably be fixed in a patch.
It also would have been nice to be able to interact with more of the world but with the aforementioned clipping issue, it might have been a problem to implement something like that.
Definitely a surprise of a game. Looking forward to what the developers release next. Hopefully some DLC!
