Tony Jaa was set to play Xian Chow, Kurt Sloane's mentor, but had to drop out due to a schedule conflict. He was replaced by Jean-Claude Van Damme, who played Kurt Sloane in the original Kickboxer: Contacto sangriento 2 (1989).

Errores
In the scene where they are escaping from prison and jumping off the second floor into the street (approximately 59 minutes into the film), the stunt crew is clearly visible on the ground with the landing pad for the jump as they climb onto the top of the police truck. When they jump down off the truck, the edge of the pad comes up into the frame.

It was funnier, more commercial, but not necessarily more interesting, I imagined that this would be a Kickboxer sequel, but it's a remake ... nor Van Dame (always beautiful) saves... I liked the little dance at the end in honor of Van Dame... But very weak...
