Opinión destacada
2073 (2024) Netflix
Dystopian science fiction (or fact) starring Samantha Morton.
This is either the most important film I will ever see or a tedious waste of time.
Its also the worst day to watch this film, the day after Donald Trump's crowning of his second and final stint in the white house.
Set in 2073, when society has more or less broken down into the haves, the authority and the elite rulers and the have nots, the populace, scrambling to survive on the refuse tip of modern life.
Premise is told in news flashbacks of talking heads and news reels of how humanity got to this state in 2073.
In the spirit of the film, I've used AI to underpin the review with a dystopian poem.
Dictators in the name of democracy, Siphon our rights with each passing decree.
Tech giants invade, uninvited, obscene, In the labyrinth of screens, we're never seen.
Goose-stepping megalomaniacs rise, While vanity rockets soar into the skies.
Freedom has vanished, a ghost on the run, And we're left in the ashes when the day is done.
Surveillance creeps, no escape, no release, A knock at the door - the hunt doesn't cease.
Deviants, they claim, hiding in plain sight, As they shadow our lives in the dark of the night.
Media titans choke the air with their lies, Spreading hate like smoke under poisoned skies.
Religious wars breed on the backs of the poor, While social feeds peddle hate by the score.
Ecological disasters, both real and betrayed, The rivers are rising, but what's the price paid?
The floods rage on, and the earth's crying out, While those in power laugh and drown out the doubt.
Ants in the dirt, bickering for crumbs, As masters above piss down, what have we become?
Fighting for scraps in a world that's gone cold, While the powers that be only tighten their hold.
Like my review above its, the film is incoherent confusing but with a very important message 5/10
PS it is tedious.
