A great documentary that infuses the modern day art scene in Berlin with a fascinating look German history. We follow the lives and pursuits of many extremely interesting artists of different forms/mediums...peaking into their visions and creative processes which is by itself fascinating enough but this is all played against the backdrop of a changing Berlin as we get a history lesson of the effects that the falling of the wall had on the artists and culture in general. The crew is given great access to the thriving scene which exists in a central abandoned location that has been inhabited by Berlin's most prolific artists. As we follow the stories of each artist we are left wondering if this incredible re-purposed compound is going to be taken back by the government and away from the the very artists which have made it the thriving, exciting space it is today.
I enjoyed the films ability to give me important bits of history through an artistic lens and took me on a journey...meeting a bunch of really interesting artists and getting an inside look at a thriving art scene in Berlin I knew nothing about previously...a scene so heavily effecting by the political turmoil of the region.
