Before theatrical release, controversy arose when behind-the-scenes footage surfaced and appeared to show a distressed dog being forcibly submerged in turbulent pool water during filming. As a result of the leaked footage, the filmmakers chose to cancel the U.S. premiere. Controversially, on February 4, 2017, the American Humane Association stated that the footage was misleadingly edited and no abuse occurred.

Errores
In one of the scenes the dog is watching "Dynasty" in the 80's on an analog TV and noting that the protagonists are fighting. Dogs could not recognize images on analog TVs, as their eyes could recognize the flicker effect that happened with analog images. It wasn't until digital TV came along in the 90's that dogs could recognize images on TV.

Good family movie, don't believe the lies

This was a tear jerking, laugh inducing, emotional roller-coaster of a solid family flick.

While it isn't quite Marley & Me, it was as close as you can get. The acting was adequate and the writing may be forgettable but the love between of Man's Best Friend and the many characters in this film is palpable.

I was hesitant to spend money on this film after hearing the negative animal abuse allegations against it, but I found them to be false. Apparently TMZ made it up.

So get ready for love, pain and lots of laughter that makes this a must see for every family! Just be sure to take tissues with you.
