Ernst Bruun Olsen wrote this satire during the last part of the cold war, while intelligence agencies were widely debated. The two agents' names are pseudonyms of Politiets Efterretningstjeneste (PET) and Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste (FET), and the writer also wrote under a pseudonym (Carlo Oswald) only later to reveal the true provenance of the play.
