ROMANCE IN PARIS, aka BUMPKINS IN PARIS, is a low budget Shaw Brothers sex comedy made as an aside to their better known martial arts movies. This one stars a couple of actors know for their Shaw appearances, including one of the two cross-eyed actors that they used regularly in their comedies or comedy scenes in more serious films. They play dock workers who head to Paris looking for love and sex, and plenty of location filming follows. Much of the comedy is lowbrow and mildly offensive as they encounter cross-dressers, angry hookers and the like before true love eventually comes their way. It's tame compared to much of what came out in the 1970s, but there are still a few eye-raising moments and the occasional scene of nudity. It's not very good.
