Julia Ann is wonderful as always in this trifle Bud Lee made during his fruitful stint at the late Sin City label. I suspect industry insiders will get more out of it than the general porn public, myself included.
That's because the premise is a bit infra dig. Julia Ann narrates, while making a porn video directed by, who else?, Bud Lee. The title refers to her having just gotten out of a talent contract with a porn label, with the implication rammed home in the BTS short subject that it is Vivid Video. That fits the chronology, as Julia Ann in 2002 was moving to Wicked Pictures after her Vivid career phase.
The script heavily emphasizes the freedom Julia Ann achieves by being done with her contract and becoming her own woman, the character opening a set of massage parlors (the quasi-prostitution kind) in a successful business career. If this is Sin City under exec producer Michael Raven making jabs at Vivid, it's all water under the bridge by now.
Lee does a fine job of balancing regular sex scenes with sex scenes staged for the feature he's shown directing, and supporting players ranging from Sondra Hall to Wendy Divine are terrific. Oddest touch for me was a buxom actress playing Jocelyn who appears as Julia Ann's mentor in a non-sex role as a brothel madam - she is not identified in the credits.
