Growing up with video games being turned into movies have shown me they mostly were cash grabs and everyone involved had no idea of the source material, nor cared. But also, it's very difficult to create a live action movie that brings the same excitement and enjoyment because a video and video games are different mediums. You cannot recreate that feeling of being a part of the story. Times have changed since the old era of video games where there was very little back story which gamers had to create themselves. And when a movie was made, it made no sense to many. Similar to have a book that movie tends not feel right: director/writers interpretations different than a reader's. Nowadays there is more story if made into a movie. But still, it's impossible to bring to an interactive activity and create the same thing with a passive one
That said, what Fallout brings is a very great show. If removed from being another video game movie, on its own its refreshing, entertaining, and makes you want to see more. As someone familiar with the game, I am very impressed how they brought that world to life. I really cannot think where the attention to detail was so thorough that I can only think those involved cared what they were working on. They didn't force in some of the video game aspects, but made them make sense. I felt there was no "we have to do this and that because it's a game and we need to make gamers happy." They made a great and enjoyable show. For fans and general television viewers alike.
