*Core childhood memory unlocked*
I cannot tell you how many times I've played the campaign to this game. Back in the good ole Xbox 360 days, I didn't have an endless supply of games to play like there is now. Don't get me wrong; I had my gta, I had my call of duty, I still had games to play, but this game was still the one I played numerous times over. I'm not sure if it was the destructibility mechanics, or the semi open world , but the game definitely captivated me in many ways. You play as a guy named Preston, who along with the other bad company members, have been sent out on a secret mission only a rag tail of f-ups could complete. I still love all these characters; Sweetwater and Haggard are the comedians of the game, always at each others throats or just playing rock paper scissors for the helluva it. Redford is your captain, and while he is your classic commander character, they definitely still fleshed out his character and make him a truly awesome character. Speaking of the plot, it takes place in some fictional country that has become the battleground between Russia and America. But apparently, there are mercenaries too, and with lots of gold to be found, your objective changes as you stray further and further in enemy lines. The combat/ gameplay is probably the best part of the game, as you have plenty of explosives at your disposal. Using under barrel attachments to blow a hole in a house, or using air strikes to demolish an entire house that has a turret, the game wants you to blow as much s**t up as possible. Now, coming back to this game, I decided to play the campaign on its hardest difficulty, and to some extent, it really was difficult. The biggest thing was that there is absolutely no stealth whatsoever. Enemies would be able to see me across the map, and was stuck to mostly shooting from afar. The biggest hurdle though was the tank levels, in particular, one level where there's like 4 or more tanks patrolling, and me not having any kind of explosive that would blow up tanks, I was forced to run full speed at them and take them out by having each tank shoot each other. Like literally, there was no way to sneak or anything because the enemy knows you're there the second you peer over a hill. Although a little frustrating, I was able to beat it, and eventually the game, which I also should mention I gathered all the unlock-able achievements like finding all the gold, and shooting all the pickable weapons. Now, when I started playing the campaign, not too long afterwards, Dice announced they were shutting the servers down on bad company 1, 2, and 1943, so by time I finished the campaign, I basically went right into the online mode. And man, compared to Battlefield 1943, it was rough. All the players were obviously players that have played the game for years and years, so it took me awhile to actually get decent at the game. At the time though, I was playing so many other games, so I wasn't trying to get a lot of the achievements. I think really the only ones I tried and ended up getting is getting to rank 8, get 5 dog tags, and place #1 in a ranked match. The online was enjoyable, but not that fun to grind out the other achievements in such a short time. In all, despite the game having no online capabilities anymore, I'd recommend just to enjoy the solid campaign. This game was definitely ahead of its time when it got released, and in my opinion, still holds up to this day. Recommended for fans of 1st person shooters.
