Urutoraman Mebiusu ando Urutora kyôdai

I'll give some props where its due: there are Ultraman-like concepts harkening back to the core of the franchise outside the well-coreographed fights and there are some Ultraman-like visuals which are interesting to watch, but other than that and the presence of a person in the cast who took part in an excellent series like Abaranger (Aiko Ito of Yellow Ranger fame) there's nothing here particularly interesting to begin with, even considering this was made in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the franchise. What was the point of ONE HOUR AND AN HALF of runtime continuosly throwing at the face of the viewer the first four showa Ultramen for mere fanservice - fanservice that doesn't even take in consideration the heisei Ultramen, just the first four, without considering the possibility that some people might prefer the heisei Ultramen to one or more of the Showa ones - when something like the same amount of time dedicated to a possible documentary about what the Ultraman franchise meant to the original human form and suit actors of those showa shows would have been better served? I don't get it. The guy behind the original 60's Ultraman suit made millions alone with a book dedicated to his life experiences, Tsuburaya would have made the same amount of money with a simple documentary and they would have avoided wasting so much on a movie as pointless as this. Me thinks I'll avoid the next Mebius movie safely.
