Women Seeking Women 9

With over 140 DVDs in this series issued so far, there's no debating the success of Girlfriend Film's popular vignette series, but Volume 9 is a loser. It takes a very patient fan to suffer through these 3 episodes to their bitter ends.

Opener is way too familiar, even though the actresses cannot be faulted - Veronica Snow and Tara Wild. They've got the glamorous lesbian stuff down pat, but with its 22-minute-long preamble before the XXX content gets cooking the vignette is pretty dull. It's identical to countless other trademark shorts from the label: two mature beauties dressed in glorious evening gowns meet up on a couch as a respite from a gala party (we hear only the sounds of the festivities dubbed on the soundtrack), chat and then have sex in a candle and flowers adorned bedroom, lit with twilight mood half-light.

Veronica is the Sapphic neophyte seduced by Tara this time around, but the polite banter (punctuated endlessly by lesbian porn's "than-queue" affected verbal drivel) leading inevitably to slow and sensual love making is strictly dullsville. I can't recall Snow ever looking lovelier on screen but the uncredited director has mummified the action into tableaux rather than eroticism.

That's the best of the 3 segments, with Part 2 a very phony attempt at pro-am realism that is truly inept. Julie Robbins hams it up as a minx of a niece, blackmailing her aunt into having incest with her (or else she will notify her uncle about how auntie has been cheating on him, with photographic evidence to prove it. The aunt is played stiffly by a non-actress mamed Karin Jewell whose day job is cranking out granny porn -yuck! The best that might be said about this 60-something performer is that she manages to stay in character as the "never been with a woman" cliché role until near the end of the scene when she gamahouches Julie with time-worn skill.

Third segment is pure filler: silent pantomime of two Hungarian beauties pawing each other after one takes a bath and the other a shower, as generic as porn sex can be. Sure it's a respite from cranking out generic Euro porn for the Private label, but who cares?
