The title of this movie is translated into: the Last Choice.
This movie made in the early era of the reform mirrors the true story in real life in cities of Si-Chuan Province in western part of China. Some of the followers of the Gang of Four in other areas of China fled to Si-Chuan Province after the end of the Cultural Revolution and taking advantage of the chaos caused by the Cultural Revolution, they hide their ugly past and were in powers until they finally got caught in the early 1980's. This movie is a combination of advocacy, introspection and criticism in that it honestly criticized and introspected the Cultural Revolution, while advocating political reform.
