Doug Linus: It WAS made for you.
Chad Linus: Well, actually, it was made for my friend Chris, but he never used it, so I was like "Hey, free retainer".

I really have to give MTV credit, here. 2Gether did a pretty good job simultaneously poking fun at boy bands, while also building a marketable one. For those of us who didn't listen to this music (like me), the show was pretty fun for its tongue-in-cheek take on boy bands and the music industry. For those who liked the music, they also got to enjoy that as well. I recall that this was in fact a popular band, they made albums, released singles, etc. Just as The Monkees (both band and TV show) had done decades prior.
The show may not have been ROFL-worthy (and some jokes were pretty basic and formulaic), but it was still pretty funny. If you liked that era of MTV sitcoms, because it definitely had a specific style that MTV had used at the time. And well...some of their programming pulled it off better than others did. 2Gether was a generally better example of how to make it work. I can't account for what MTV is like nowadays, so this may not be a good fit for folks who didn't flourish in this era. But those who remember the show, I think they could definitely get a kick out of it.
Now, it didn't go as hard as say, Mad Magazine did with its satire of boy bands and such. But 2Gether definitely knew its audience, and the actors had pretty good chemistry. Tying in with this being a parody, you could tell that they were having fun with it. You gotta give em credit for pulling this off. This was a pretty fun show, and they did a solid job with it. But alas, it might be too cornball for some audiences. 6.5.
