He instead chose to direct a film about a mental patient who believes he is Hitler, and so Mora could make the account about the life and times of the Fuhrer in a unique way with a modest budget.

BOMB!!!!--Marat/Sade it isn't!

Whatever it takes to make a bad movie--this film has it--bad acting, bad pacing, wandering storyline, scenes that aren't scenes at all. The worst of it is the actor portraying the mental patient who thinks he's Hitler--sooooBAD, bad bad overacting--extreme closeups of his face while he's chewing up the scenery--painful and embarrassing to watch--to what point? Ultimately this is the director's fault--nobody really seems to know what and how they are supposed to be doing.
