- TriviaIn the Biatorbágy scene of the film, it was cheaper to blow up a real train than a model. As the viaduct had been out of operation for 5 years (during the renovation of the Budapest - Hegyeshalom - Rajka railway line, a new route was created, which avoided the viaduct), which is why the rails were rebuilt for the sake of the film, and a small bend was built in the middle to the train should crash without detonation. The protagonist's steam locomotive 324, 1512, was scrapped on May 17, 1982. It was then slightly modified to resemble a Type 301 steam locomotive that had been the victim of an assassination, and then No. 221. A steering wheel company delivered it to the site in a trailer. The recording took place on June 2, 1982 at 9:29 p.m. On the slightly sloping track, a train of locomotives and two wagons was pushed by a pusher from behind and then pulled to the bridge by a winch, so it fell from the curved rails into the deep near the bridge head. It would have been dangerous to heat the steam locomotive, so the pyrotechnicians made smoke and steam in the locomotive. The wreckage was then placed with a crane in its original condition based on contemporary photographs, so recordings were made of rescuing the dead and wounded.
- Versiones alternativasFrom American and germane versions omitted the scene of Epstein's murder.

While I was watching "The Train Killer", I kept thinking that the movie sure looked like a made for television effort despite some nudity, sex, and a couple of impressive train wrecks. Doing some research after watching the movie, I came across some evidence suggesting it was indeed made for European television, but I was unable to get enough confirmation. Anyway, the cheap look of the enterprise isn't the only problem to be found here. The main character is barely explored - there's no real explanation (or even theories) brought forward as to why he wants to wreck all those trains. Also, the feel of the movie is very sedate, despite the explosions and wrecks - the movie comes across as surprisingly low key, so much so that it's hard to stay alert and interested in what happens. You'd be better off looking up Szilveszter Matuska on the Internet and reading about him rather that watching this disappointing movie.
