I had never even heard about this movie titled "Street Girls" as I stumbled upon it here in 2024. The movie was released the year I was born, and I guess it wasn't exactly a movie that made a big impact on cinematic history, and thus I never heard about it. Regardless, with this being a movie that I had never seen, of course I opted to sit down and give it a fair chance.
Without knowing what I was in for, and with the movie's title and the year it was made, then I figured chances would be that this would be some type of exploitation movie.
I believed that I was in for a thriller of sorts, as the movie was listed as a drama/thriller, but "Street Girls" is more of a sluggish drama as to an actual thriller. So that was somewhat disappointing, to say the least. And the storyline itself just wasn't particularly captivating, and it was a bit of a struggle to sit through the mundane narrative.
Needless to say that I was not familiar with the actresses or actors in the movie. It should be said that the acting performances were actually fair, despite the fact that the script was rubbish.
Just a heads up, there is a lot of nudity in the movie. But then again, given the movie's title, it sort of comes with the territory, now doesn't it? And the scene in the strip club just dragged on for a prolonged period of time, making it feel like nothing more than a chance for director Michael Miller to show off more nude girls.
As it turned out, then I had definitely not been missing out on a grand gem in cinematic history here. Not that I was expecting that. But this movie was a swing and a miss, and writers Barry Levinson and Michael Miller succeeded at failing to entertain me with their script.
My rating of director Michael Miller's 1975 movie "Street Girls" lands on a two out of ten stars.
