"The Bold Ones",was without a doubt one of the most realistic shows ever to conceived for television which ran for three seasons on NBC-TV from its premiere on September 14, 1969 until the final episode of the series concluding on May 4,1973. The show however, featured four segments with one show concluding on with the next and so forth. All four segments featured some very powerful acting here and some very breathtaking performances from its cast of great actors. This series was guided under the creation team of Steven Bochco,Richard H. Landau, and Paul Mason which was produced under Raymond Burr's production company Harbour Productions and Universal Television.
"The Bold Ones:The Lawyers"-Dealt with cases concerning the court system and the prosecutors and lawyers whom try the cases and bring the innocent to justice and the accusers they bring to trial. This segment stars Joseph Campanella,James Farentino and the great Burl Ives.
"The Bold Ones:The Protectors"-This show was like the Law and Order of its day,but it consisted of a hard nosed detective(Leslie Nielsen)and his confrontations with the District Attorney at law(Hari Rhodes)as they go after the issues within the system. This segment also starred actor Brian Kelly(of the "Flipper" TV series)as one of the detectives.
"The Bold Ones:The New Doctors"-Was the best of the four segments out of the bunch where the focus of the show was based on medical facts and researches they go through to cure the sick and fight off the lame bureaucrats whom stand in the process of the work. Basically, this was one great medical series where most of the episodes focused on surgical procedures. This segment starred the great E.G. Marshall as Dr. Craig, and John Saxon and David Hartman(long before he did the TV series Lucas Tanner and long before he did Good Morning America)as his assistants. This segment even lasted another year on the air, with the addition of Robert Walden as Dr. Cohen in the last season of the series.
"The Bold Ones:The Senators"-Dealt with the ongoing within the political system and the new individuals whom are in the senatorial eye of the issues facing the system and how the system is afflected. This segment only ran for six episodes and it starred Sharon Acker,Mike Tolan, and Hal Holbrook.
The executive producer of this series was Raymond Burr, whom was behind the scenes as well of his own show at the time "Ironside",which he was the star of that series.
Recently, the Hallmark Channel aired some of these episodes and it is amazing that this is not to be missed if it ever comes back again soon.
