Olivia de Havilland absolutely hated her role in the film. She had not wanted to star in it in the first place, but was forced to due to an arrangement - intended to punish her after she protested against working conditions on Pobre princesita (1943) - in which Warner Bros. loaned her services to David O. Selznick, who turned her over to RKO. Her distaste for the arrangement is evident in the wide variety of grimaces, smirks and other expressions she used in an attempt to avoid creating a character of any depth or credibility.

Errores
When Ed and Smokey are on the motorcycle, Ed cuts across the park on the lawn saying that it is a shortcut. A few seconds later, he asks Smokey for directions. So he couldn't have taken a shortcut if he didn't know where he was going.

One of the best DC location films ever shot

I only saw this movie once on AMC (before they started showing recent "classics". I loved it. Sure, it is a war propaganda film, loaded with patriotism. Sure it is written to the largely female audiences of the time. Sure, it is a pale imitation of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and "His Girl Friday". It is still a fun, witty, movie.

It is also possibly the best use of Washington, DC as a location. They get the geography right. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (one of my favorites) has people going in every direction. "Government Girl" keeps everything in its place. Also, it provides an historic look at wartime DC.

Tell me where I can find this movie, as I would love to see it again.
